Google And Salesforce Cooking Up Something New Together

Google and Salesforce can’t seem to get enough of each other: over a series of announcements the companies have aligned their product strategies more and more closely over time. Now the companies are planning something new together, to be announced by Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and Google VP Engineering Vic Gundotra at Salesforce’s upcoming Tour de Force developer event on June 23 in Santa Clara.

A year ago Salesforce integrated adwords tracking into their platform. Then two months ago we heard rumors that the companies were planning on deeper product integration - it turned out to be the complete integration of Google Apps (Docs, Calendar, Gmail, and Gtalk) and Salesforce’s online enterprise apps.

Salesforce, Google Extend Flights on The Cloud

Extended partnership gives Salesforce customers a home in the clouds, access to suite of Google offerings.

Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) announced today that it will offer its suite of consumer relationship management (CRM) applications to businesses through the Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) Apps cloud hosting platform.

The partnership, which builds on an existing alliance between Google and the software-as-a-service (SaaS) leader, signifies an accelerated campaign to upend Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) old-line Office productivity suite by enabling businesses to run their operations entirely in the cloud.

Heralding the expanded partnership, Salesforce CEO Marc Beniof was his usual blunt self in his assessment of the disruptive impact new models of computing will have on traditional business lines.

Google, Salesforce to buddy up over CRM

Google and Salesforce.com are expected to today launch a combined website that is designed to allow the online customer relationship management software maker to act as a reseller for Google's AdWords.

For Salesforce.com, the alliance expands its efforts to tie its hosted CRM software with Google AdWords, following its acquisition of privately held Kieden last year. Salesforce.com will expand beyond allowing its customers to launch Google AdWords from a Salesforce.com application to one in which it will act as a reseller of the Google AdWords platform.

The two companies jointly developed Salesforce Group Edition featuring Google AdWords and plan to jointly market the offering, said Kendall Collins, senior vice president of marketing for Salesforce.com.

Report: Google Talking Deal with Salesforce.com

A deal between Salesforce.com and Google makes sense from a PR perspective, with Microsoft planning to release its CRM tool as a hosted application, called Microsoft Dynamics CRM Live, at the end of the second quarter. Both Salesforce.com and Google would love to steal some thunder from Microsoft, one analyst said.

For all the mergers and acquisitions the business world has seen in the past month, Google and Salesforce.com are reminding Wall Street that strategic alliances are still in style.

According to a Monday article in the Wall Street Journal, the two Internet companies are in talks about a partnership that would target Microsoft . The paper cited unnamed sources that claim the companies are working out details of a possible alliance that might be revealed within weeks.
