YouTube AntiPiracy Tool By September

Google may have an antipiracy tool for the YouTube video sharing site as soon as September according to a statement Friday by an attorney for Google. During a hearing in the copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Viacom against Google last March a Google attorney stated that they are currently working on some type of video recognition technology.

The new technology should be able to create a unique identification on each video, similar to the uniqueness of a fingerprint, that owners of the videos can place on their media.

Yahoo launches customisable ad tool

Yahoo just upped the ante in the display advertising space.

The company on Monday launched a new display advertising product called SmartAds, whish allows marketers to offer ads that are customised based on the web surfer’s age, gender, location and online activities.

For instance, instead of just seeing a generic ad for a Toyota Prius, a woman in San Francisco who conducts research on hybrid cars on Yahoo Autos could be served an ad for a local San Francisco dealer with information on the types of Priuses that are in stock and the purchase price. The ad, which is configured on the fly, could also feature a background colour targeted for women in her age range, as well as a Golden Gate Bridge logo.

Adobe extends online video remixer to YouTube and MTV

Adobe announced this morning that it has extended its Adobe Premiere Express service to two other online video services: YouTube and MTV.com. The free, Flash-based "video remixer" will allow users of the world's most popular video sharing site to splice their videos together with music, transitions, and other effects without requiring them to have special software on their computers. Similarly, MTV.com is holding a contest wherein users can "mix" new versions of Kelly Clarkson's video "Never Again" with the Premiere Express tool.

Adobe first launched Premiere Express in a partnership with PhotoBucket last February. The editor's drag-and-drop interface made it easy for PhotoBucket's users to create "remixes" of their videos and photos hosted on the site. They could then save them out as Flash movies, which are embeddable on any type of web page. PhotoBucket and Adobe billed it as an easy-to-use, no-experience-required solution for users to add multimedia elements to their personal photos and videos.

Report: Google Talking Deal with Salesforce.com

A deal between Salesforce.com and Google makes sense from a PR perspective, with Microsoft planning to release its CRM tool as a hosted application, called Microsoft Dynamics CRM Live, at the end of the second quarter. Both Salesforce.com and Google would love to steal some thunder from Microsoft, one analyst said.

For all the mergers and acquisitions the business world has seen in the past month, Google and Salesforce.com are reminding Wall Street that strategic alliances are still in style.

According to a Monday article in the Wall Street Journal, the two Internet companies are in talks about a partnership that would target Microsoft . The paper cited unnamed sources that claim the companies are working out details of a possible alliance that might be revealed within weeks.
